The Moleskine is synonymous with the ‘premium’ notebook and priced to match. It’s a good looking notebook, but a notebook should be judged on the paper that it holds instead of how it looks. That raises a problem, because the paper inside the Moleskine is trash. The Pen Addict has come to the same conclusion in his recent review.
It isn’t justt the paper quality at fault either, the last Moleskine that I bought was poorly bound and unevenly cut; unacceptable for a brand whose reputation has been built on the quality of its product. I stopped buying them a few years ago after picking up a Leuchtturm1917 and realising that I was being mugged by the Moleskine hype machine. Moleskine is a fashion brand, not a stationer.
